The need for malware and virus detection became apparent when a neighbour asked for help to fix their slow running computer. A couple weeks later another neighbour with laptop displaying similar symptoms to the first showed up on our doorstep.
The second neighbour had scanned their laptop a number of times with Norton 360, but this did them no good. The situation became worse when their internet connection froze and they could not get any Windows updates.
After studying the behaviour of the virus, we manually removed the virus from the system. The next day, AntiGen was written to replicate this manual removal of the virus, and also detecting it.
A week later, AntiGen was released to the public.
